GROWING DWARF ORANGE TREES FROM SEED

These and other citrus plants can be grown from seed, keeping in mind temperature requirements and pH (acid-alkaline) requirements.

Plant seeds in Park's Grow Mix and keep in a warm place, preferably with bottom heat from a heating cable, at about a 75° temperature.

Transplant seedlings into Park's Grow Mix to be grown in this medium to maturity. Plants can be grown under fluorescent lights (Park's Gro-Lamps) with light exposure for 16 hours per day. They thrive in ample light either under these units or in a greenhouse or well-lit window.

Ideal growing temperatures range between 50° and 55° at night, with 70° to 80° daytime temperatures.

Aphids, thrip and scale insects are insect enemies of citrus plants. Weekly spraying with Malathion or Diazinon will keep plants free of these troubles once treatment is started as soon as first signs of insects are noticed. If systemic controls are used, do not use systemics after fruiting begins.
